It’s been a year since Leland Williams passed on. A year later, his family remembers his humor, warmth and – especially – his love of fishing. You play a member of his family going out on a solo fishing trip. With a specific sporting goal in mind, you’ll recall lessons and memories from Leland. If you piece together the lessons in just the right order, you’ll have a great day on the lake!

In Fishing Lessons you’ll play through a series of rounds representing the course of your day. At the start of the game you’ll pick a family member, each with their own unique goal. During each round you’ll recall a new Lesson, adding it to your list of steps that you’ll then run through in order. Lessons are used to move your character’s boat along the row of Lake cards or to flip Lake cards to hide or reveal the fish you need to complete your character’s goal. Meet the goal at the right time, based on your chosen difficulty level, to win the game!

Family Friends (2 Lesson Cards and 1 Double-sided Family Card)

Leland inspired everyone around him, even friends and neighbors. Though nobody seemed to learn the exact same lessons…

This 3-card expansion mixes up your memories by adding 2 new Lesson cards. These are shuffled in with the deck and then 2 random Lessons are removed, making your day on the lake less predictable. These Lessons also feature an option with a mandatory movement direction, giving you less control over your boat. It also includes an additional double-sided Family card, adding two new characters with their own goals to complete.

Fabled Fish (4 Lake Cards with Fabled Fish)

Leland loved telling tall tales of the ones that got away. It’s time for you to prove that these lost legends are real!

This 4-card expansion adds a legendary fish. One of these cards will be added to the Lake at the start of the day. Whenever the fabled fish card is revealed, its unique ability will have a powerful impact on the game.

Leland's Tackle Box (4 Tackle Cards)

Plenty of people tried to gift Leland a new tackle box, but he always swore by this one. Perhaps it'll hold something useful for you, too.

This 4-card expansion adds 2 Tackle cards to each game which must be played to win. When adding a card to the Lesson Row from your hand, you may play a face-up Tackle card as well, covering an existing Lesson card and replacing it with a powerful action for the turn before being discarded to reveal the original Lesson. After playing the first Tackle card, flip the other one face-up and play it on a subsequent turn. Play both before the game ends or you'll miss the boat!
